US not seen as a threat to Oz LNG

Speaking at the Australian Petroleum Production & Exploration Association (APPEA) conference in Perth, Barnett said he did not believe the emergence of the US as a potential exporter would be a “game changer” for the industry.

“There is no doubt that the success of shale gas development in the US has produced a vast amount of energy and there is no doubt that the US has a scope to become a very large player in the export of LNG,” he said.

Barnett
