The Houston-based independent said its N'Gongui-2 well, drilled with 50% partner Total, in the Mutamba Iroru concession had found its target in the Gamba sandstone section.
"The reservoir encountered is the same oil bearing sandstone that produces so prolifically from our offshore fields in Gabon," chief executive Robert Gerry said in a statement, adding that the company was not releasing further details for the moment.
