The Dimba-1 well was drilled in about 175 feet of water about seven miles north-east of the Vaalco-operated Etame field. It was drilled to a total depth of 3040 metres with the KCA Deutag jack-up Ben Rinnes targeting both the Gamba and deeper syn-rift formations.
"Electric log data indicates that the estimated recoverable reserves are uneconomic at this location," Vaalco said in a statement on Thursday, adding that the well is in the process of being plugged and abandoned.
