Northern revealed it had receivednotice from Wintershall that it had elected to exercise the first of two six-month optionsfor the rig.
Northern said the start-date of theoption period would start on 1 May, committing the Energy Endeavourto Wintershall's operations in the Dutch sector of the North Sea through to November atanoperating day rate of $160,000 per day.
Wintershall chartered the jack-up forwork in the North Sea last year, with the initialcontract starting around 1 October.
