The Germany giant has farmed out its entire 15% holding in PL375, 375B and 375C to emerging Norwegian outfit Explora Petroleum.
The licences, in the northern part of the North Sea close to the Snorre field, contain the 34/4-11 discovery, also known as Beta.
Wintershall's exit leaves Explora partnered by operator and 65% shareholder Suncor Energy and Talisman Energy on 20%.
The Beta discovery has been proven by a pair of wells, 34/4-11 and 34/4-13S.
