A terrorist attack in In Amenas in January left about 40 foreign and 10 Algerian workers dead, as well as 29 militants. The fatalities included five Statoil workers and four BP employees. The two companies jointly operated the facility.
The facility was partially re-opened on 22 February. Algerian Minister of Energy & Mines Youcef Yousfi said on Tuesday that the restart included implementation of "new security measures" that he said would help prevent a similar attack in the future.
