At least five leading offshore contractors have lined up to chase a decommissioning project tendered by Shell for its Tapti field, off India’s west coast.

Sources said that the contractors recently responded to an expression of interest floated by the Anglo-Dutch supermajor and a formal tender process is expected to start later this year.

Those believed to have shown interest in the decommissioning project include Indian engineering giant Larsen & Toubro (L&T), compatriot Afcons, Malaysia’s SapuraKencana and Netherlands- based Boskalis and Seaway Heavy Lifting, industry sources said.
