As predicted by Upstream on 28 June, only a consortium formed by Brazilian engineering company Schahin and Japanese floater specialist Modec ended up submitting a proposal for the Carioca FPSO job in early July.
However, sources said the price offered by the duo was too high to be accepted by Petrobras, making contracting of the unit unlikely without negotiations to bring the number down.
