French-Japanese artist and designer Cesar Harada came up with the idea for a pollution-collecting drone after he moved to Louisiana to help with the clean-up of the oil spill caused by the blowout at BP’s Macondo well.
The project – called Protei – aims to create a fleet of the vessels, which Harada says collect oil more efficiently than current methods and reduce human exposure to potentially harmful dispersants.
