Maersk Oil kicked off drilling at the T-Rex prospect last week – its first operated Norwegian exploration well.
While at first glance it might appear that the prospect is named directly after the uber-predator dinosaur, it is in fact it is a nod to the 1970s British rock group led by Marc Bolan, according to Maersk.
Morten Jeppesen, the managing director of Maersk Oil’s Norway unit, has been quoted as saying that the prospect, if it comes in, could the company’s “ticket to Norway”.
