Refracturing appeals to operators because it offers a host of benefits. It gives them access to increased production without the expense of drilling a new well. It allows them to book more reserves. It drops the overall dollar per barrel produced for a well.
“The beauty of refracks is, typically, a refrack well costs less than one-third the cost of a new well,” says Priyesh Ranjan, Halliburton’s senior manager for global business development.
