The crowds on the exhibition floor may have been a bit thinner on opening day, the booth giveaways less extravagant. But there was a prevailing mood of guarded optimism, perhaps best summed up on conference podia, where speaker after speaker pointed out the inevitable growth in energy demand for the foreseeable future and the continued prominence of oil and gas in the energy mix.
