Jon Erik Reinhardsen took over at Petroleum Geo-Services (PGS) in April 2008 towards the conclusion of an unprecedented boom. But by the end of that year it had turned into a bust. He suddenly had to chart a course for the company through the fall-out from the difficult market that ensued. Fortuitously or not, Reinhardsen already had some experience.
As a long-serving manager with the Aker group, he was assigned in the late 1990s to launch a subsidiary, Aker Geo, starting with two newbuild seismic vessels.
