At least four Italian yards are in the hunt to fabricate a new platform for Edison’s Vega B oil project off Sicily’s south coast, which needs one final rubber-stamp from the government in Rome before it looks set to move ahead.
Industry sources said Rosetti Marino, Saipem, Irem and Belleli are the key players chasing one or more contracts to build a 6000-tonne wellhead platform.
