These are two new technologies that enable standard drilling operations in reservoirs with extreme temperatures. Both include integrated ceramic electronics (ICE) and multichip modules that are specifically designed and ruggedised for hostile downhole environments.
The PowerDrive ICE RSS is the only commercially available RSS rated to 200o Celsius (392o Fahrenheit), and together with Schlumberger’s TeleScope ICE MWD service, the technologies make up the industry’s first 200o Celsius RSS bottomhole assembly (BHA), the company says.
