The Purple Hayes lateral test well in the Utica shale had a lateral length of more than 18,500 feet and was completed with 124 frac stages in 24 days. The total depth was 27,046 feet, including the lateral extension.
The service company used its complete Frac of the Future fleet, including dual fuel pumps that reduced fuel consumption by 40%, according to Tony Angelle, area vice president for Halliburton.
