Given the multitude of options available to operators when it comes to choosing floating production facilities — ship-shaped floating production, storage and offloading units (FPSOs), spars, tension-leg platforms (TLPs), semisubmersibles and buoy forms among them — there might appear to be little opportunity for an additional contender to join the ranks. But through a combination of persistence coupled with a goodly measure of technical know-how and inspiration, that looks set to change with the arrival of a newcomer.
