Norway is still pursuing CCS despite earlier canning plans for a plant at Mongstad on the west coast due to high costs. The government had previously stated it was aiming to realise a CCS project by 2020.
The feasibility studies have been carried out by a number of players with the aim of identifying at least one technically feasible CCS chain and have shown such a project could be executed at a lower cost than for previously considered schemes, according to the Petroleum & Energy Ministry.
