With challenging reservoirs, solids specifications of two to 15 microns are increasingly common, says Jeroen Bergman, product manager for separation technologies at Frames Group.

“That’s where all of us in this market are facing a challenge — finding the best available technology to remove these particles below 10 microns.”

FMC Technologies and others are working on membrane technology, including coatings that could prevent fouling, increase flux and selectivity and enable more compact systems, says Remko Westra, product manager for FMC Technologies’ separation systems business.
