The SCCS this week published a concept proposal for creating a CO2 storage hub based around Peterhead port in Scotland that would store emissions from countries around the North Sea, using ships to transport CO2.

Stuart Haszeldine, professor of CCS at the University of Edinburgh and director of SCCS, said this would be an “affordable” route to developing a CCS industry in the UK incrementally, using existing pipeline infrastructure such as Feeder 10 and the Goldeneye and Miller pipelines to transport and store CO2 in the Central North Sea.
