In the early days of offshore activities in the UK sector, a number of UK technical organisations dipped their toes into the exciting new world of oil and gas, hoping to adapt their technology from its original purpose to the arena of platforms and pipelines.
One which brought serious inspection technology, originally developed for use at nuclear power stations, to the sector was the UK Atomic Energy Authority.
