A lot of good things have to happen soon for marine seismic vessel contractors to come out smiling from their current, sketchily funded rush into Mexico’s newly liberated offshore sector. So far, the persistent low oil price environment, a botched first round of licensing awards by the government’s National Hydrocarbons Commission (CNH) and the temporary postponement of the much-anticipated release of deepwater acreage have everyone on edge.
