When it was announced, Statoil’s Perfect Well programme set a target of 17 days average drilling time per well in the Texas shale play. The Norwegian company had already halved the time it spent drilling an average well in the Eagle Ford, from 52 days in 2012 to an average 27 days in early 2014.
Eighteen months on, the average drilling time per well stands at just under 14 days, and Statoil has moved the Perfect Well goal to 8.5
