The MME said Petronas had won the Calub and Hilala gasfields development tender after a series of talks that began in July 2006.
Minister Alemayehu Tegenu said that Petronas presented a proposal for the gas development project. Alemayehu said the company proposed to transport the gas to a sea port and to export it by ship.
The MME said Petronas has presented a draft agreement and memorandum of understanding on the three components of the project proposal, which comprise the petroleum development and production sharing agreement, gas transport, and gas processing plans.
