First Calgary's Algerian assets became attractive after Repsol and its Spanish partner Gas Natural won the bidding for Algeria's massive Gassi Touil gas contract last November, the source told Reuters, speaking on condition of anonymity.
But Repsol is not in talks with the Calgary-based company about a full takeover, the source said.
"There are no talks about buying First Calgary. There are conversations about the assets in Algeria.
