Upstream has reported previously that the Korean offshore giant had a competitive edge over its rivals to build the platform.

HHI said today it had won the order "after fierce competition, beginning in October 2006, when tenders were submitted with the consortiums of Technip, Saipem, and Samsung Heavy Industries; and Eiffel, and Ponticelli".

The platform will be completed by 2010 and will be able to produce 105,000 barrels of oil and 3 million cubic metres of gas per day day.
