It will be the first-ever derrick pipelay vessel job for Keppel Singmarine, which traditionally builds smaller support vessels.
Hoe Eng Hock, executive director of Keppel Singmarine, said: “Derrick pipelay vessels are highly specialised ships that have to be tailor-made to owners’ requirements.”
The 163-metre-long ship is a multi-purpose construction vessel to be capable of operating in water depths of 3000 metres and handling pipes of 60 inches in diameter.
