Nigerian Vice-President Goodluck Jonathan, a native of the delta who is charged with organising the peace talks, held closed-door meetings in the capital Abuja at the weekend with elders and state governors.
The leaders expressed their displeasure, however, with the choice of Ibrahim Gambari, a former Nigerian foreign minister who is a special adviser to UN chief Ban Ki-moon, as the steering committee’s chair.
