Dealers noted agency reports that Argentina could nationalise YPF if Repsol did not allow some local investors to take a share. On Thursday, Repsol hairman Antonio Brufau said he would like to float 15% to 20% of YPF.
"The Argentine government wants Repsol YPF to continue developing its business in Argentina and to intensify its collaboration and participation in energy development," a Spanish government official said.
