A fixed central processing platform weighing about 20,000 tonnes is expected to be the centrepiece of the GBS project, with upwards of 10 wellhead platforms feeding into the hub.
Sources said the processing facilities will need to cope with high levels of hydrogen sulphide in the gas stream.
Technip has played a major role in GBS. Sources said the French contractor has done the basic engineering work and/or the front-end engineering and design, and is well placed for the detailed engineering scope from its Asia Pacific headquarters in Kuala Lumpur.
