Caldita-1 was spudded on 7 July 2005 by the Diamond Offshore semi-submersible Ocean Bounty, and is currently at about 3650 metres on its way to a planned total depth of 4325 metres.
Caldita-1 was previously known as the Melville prospect, and is a multi-trillion cubic foot gas target in permit NT/P61 in the Bonaparte basin.
Well partner Santos has tagged Caldita-1 at 250 million barrels of oil equivalent of resource potential.
