The 1500-foot water depth Sedco 601’s contract with Daewoo runs between January 2007 and March 2007.
Since January 2006, the rig has been earning a dayrate of $77,000 with Santos in Indonesia, and its prior contract was at $56,000.
A Transocean spokesman said the dayrate increase “reflected the strong demand for offshore drilling rigs of all classes including the Sedco 601 semi-submersible rig, which has the capability of drilling in mid-water or in deep water when working in surface BOP mode”.
