The KG-D6-R1 well is located in 2010 metres of water, which is the deepest water depth drilled to date in D6.
The well was drilled to a total depth of 4860 meters, and hit two significant gas-bearing zones in the Miocene-Pliocene stratigraphic intervals.
The success in these zones opens up new areas in the deeper stratigraphic levels in the block, said project partner Niko Resources.
