The programme covers a total of 766,000 acres and will evaluate exploration leads for future drilling locations in Block 29/26 (Liwan) and the adjacent Block 29/06.
Husky said delineation of the Liwan find will begin in the second half of 2008 when the under-construction deep-water rig West Hercules arrives. The Canadian operator has secured the West Hercules for three years.
Husky added that it has entered into an agreement for the use of a jack-up rig for shallow-water drilling from October 2007 in Block 23/15, and is aiming to securing another rig for the rest of its shallow-water exploration programme.
