Joint venture partner Premier Oil said the prospect could contain up to 300 million barrels of oil, and is the first well to be drilled in the deep water (1300 metres) of the Indus Tertiary delta.

The Anglo-Dutch supermajor has contracted Transocean's drillship Discoverer 534 for the well at a dayrate of $245,000. The rig was originally due on location in June but is now contracted with Shell for the month of August, according to Transocean's latest fleet update.
