PetroChina has said it planned to issue a maximum of 4 billion shares, indicating it could raise about 40 billion yuan ($5.3 billion) based on the company's Hong Kong H share price of about HK$10.50 today.
"We do not want to set the price too high. The price will be slightly lower than our H shares and acceptable to everyone," PetroChina chairman Jiang Jiemin said.
