The vessel, also known as Castoro 8, is doing the pipeline and platform installation at Eni's Blacktip gas project of northern Australia.
The vessel's crew was recovering anchors in preparation to sail away to avoid a tropical low that later developed into Cyclone Billy, a Category 1 cyclone, said the National Offshore Petroleum Safety Authority (Nopsa).
However, the crew was unable to complete the recovery of anchors and, as a consequence, had to weather Cyclone Billy as it passed close by, added Nopsa, which is investigating the incident.
