The Moturoa-5 and Moturoa-6 onshore wells, drilled in late 2006 and early 2007 in Block PEP 38464 in the Taranaki basin, hit multiple oil and gas sands, said operator Greymouth Petroleum and joint venture partner Ngati Te Whiti, a local Maori sub-tribe.

A sidetrack of the Moturoa-6 well flowed in excess of 200 barrels of oil per day, and cumulative production from the well was 1600 barrels over the testing period.
