"The drilling rig will be designed for worldwide operation in harsh environments, including operation on the Norwegian continental shelf." Aker Kvaerner said.
Aker Kvaerner will provide engineering, equipment deliveries and commissioning services for the rig, which is scheduled for completion in 2009.
Meanwhile, Aker Drilling said it would not exercise options for the delivery of two semi-submersible drilling rigs from Aker Kvaerner.
