"What we want to show with this is that consolidation activity will be pursued," BW Offshore chief executive Svein Moxnes Harfjeld said. He added he would not rule out buying more of Prosafe.
"We have a stated strategy to contribute to consolidation, so I cannot rule that out," he said.
"BW Offshore believes that a transaction with Prosafe would create a major floating production, storage and offloading player with the largest geographical footprint in the industry and well positioned to take advantage of growth opportunities," BW Offshore said.
