Under the Nkr562 million ($85 million) contract, which excludes the cost of seismic equipment, PGS also has an option for the building of a second vessel at the same yard.
Aker Yards has built all six existing PGS Ramform vessels and the new unit will be the first newbuild since the delivery of Ramform Vanguard in 1999.
The new vessel will be 16 metres longer than the existing vessels, giving it higher fuel capacity and transit speed.
