A joint venture of shipowner Teekay and Japanese trading house Marubeni has secured a deal to buy eight LNG carriers from AP Moller-Maersk for $1.4 billion.
Under the arrangement, the partnership will acquire 100% ownership interests in six LNG carriers and 26% stakes in two additional vessels, the 145,130-cbm Maersk Qatar (built 2006) and the 138,000-cbm Maersk Ras Laffan (built 2004).
