East African heads of state from Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda and South Sudan are due to meet on 6 June in Kampala, Uganda, in a bid to decide the route to be taken by the cross-border oil export pipeline running from the oilfields around Lake Albert to the coast of Kenya.

The current favoured pipeline route is the Northern Corridor.

This would see the line running 1380 kilometres from Uganda’s Lake Albert oilfields across northern Kenya, close to Tullow Oil’s Lokichar basin oil project, to the seaport of Lamu just south of the Somali border.
