Ganope oversees upstream activities in Upper Egypt, but has a poor track record in attracting investment, given the lack of any significant discoveries in areas under its control. Ganope said the deadline for submission of bids had been extended by two months to 31 May.
Six of the blocks — West Gebel el-Zeit, Southeast Ras el-Ush, Northeast Geisum, North Magawish, Northwest Shadwan and Northwest Sea Bird — are south of the Gulf of Suez, while North al-Baraka and South al-Baraka lie west of the Nile Valley, and Southeast Qena and Kharit are east of the Nile Valley.
