Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) director general Bente Nyland told Upstream that while Statoil appeared to have a slight edge based on its reported drilling plans, Lundin is likely to be a close contender.
Statoil is refusing to disclose its Norwegian exploration plans before a capital markets day presentation in London on 6 February, but Nyland said: “Based on our figures, it seems like Statoil will drill a few more wells than Lundin.”
