The cylindrical semi-submersible unit, which has capacity to house 500 people, started a three-year contract with Petrobras in June 2015.
Even though the charter expires in mid-2018, Teekay revealed it is already in talks to secure an extension. The Arendal Spirit in contracted for a dayrate of $193,000.
“We are actually very close to finalising a potential extension of the contract, which is under a plan and model that is clearly in our interest, but also works for Petrobras,” said Teekay Offshore president and chief executive Kenneth Hvid.
