A legal expert has advised against an independentinvestigation of Lundin Petroleum’s human rights record in Sudan and Ethiopiaamid an ongoing state probe into its activities in the two countries.

Some institutional investors in the Swedish independent arecalling for the private probe, with a motion to be presented at Lundin’s annualgeneral meeting on 10 May.

Chief executive Ashley Heppenstall has reportedly rebuffedthe moves and, in an interview with Swedish business daily Dagens Industri,said the shareholders should either withdraw their demand or sell their ownershippositions.
