The Woodlands, Texas-based player has sold its Eagle Ford shale acreage to a company called Protege for an undisclosed sum.
Newfield has also let go of its conventional natural gas assets in south and west Texas to an unidentified buyer, also for an undisclosed fee.
The sold assets have current combined production of 12,700 barrels of oil equivalent per day, of which around 35% is oil.
