Lundin Petroleum has applied to the authorities to drill a further appraisal probe at its Alta find in the Barents Sea off Norway.
The Swedish explorer intends to use semi-submersible Leiv Eiriksson to drill the probe, ensuring continued work for the Ocean Rig-owned unit that was originally lined up for three firm wells.
The rig is currently drilling the third of those at the Filicudi prospect in Lundin-operated production licence 533 in the vicinity of the Alta-Gohta discoveries in the Loppa High play.
