Cairn Energy has spudded the first of two planned appraisal wells on the SNE discovery off the coast of Senegal.
Joint venture partner Far Ltd revealed Monday the drillship Stena DrillMax started drilling the SNE-5 well over the weekend in the southern area of the SNE oilfield, roughly two kilometres south-east of the SNE-3 well.
It will be followed by the SNE-6 well, with both appraisal wells to target the upper SNE reservoir units with the aim of providing key connectivity and deliverability data with Cairn planning to carry out flow tests, including interference testing.
